Holiday Rally August 2010 Sixpenny Handley

Near Salisbury, Wiltshire

We have made a preliminary booking for our 2010 Holiday Rally

Church Farm Caravan and Camping Site (Sixpenny Handley near Salisbury in Wiltshire)

There is a brand new amenities block which has showers, washing facilities and a café/bar, which is available for social events. There is also a site shop. There is good access to the area from the A303 just North of Salisbury which links to the M3 and (A34)M4 motorways, so getting there is not a problem. The rally field has water points, but at present doesn’t have mains power. We are currently looking into the practicality of providing a central generator for our use during the rally. The area has an excellent selection of greenlanes and we can organise some trips for those who wish to get closer to the countryside.

A little about the site

Church Farm is situated in a village called Sixpenny Handley, which is in the heart of the Cranborne Chase. It is the gateway to the Chase and the West Wiltshire Downs, an "Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty". The site is on an arable farm, surrounded by glorious countryside. There are a variety of local shops, including General Stores/Newsagents, Butchers, Post Office, Gift Shop and also a Public House. The village church backs on to the campsite. There is a large recreation ground, with Skateboard ramp and play area within easy walking distance.

Church Farm is an ideal site for those wishing to tour the local area with the historic City of Salisbury and the market towns of Blandford Forum, Wimborne Minster, Shaftesbury and Ringwood all easily reached within 30 minutes drive. These boast famous Landmarks such as Stonehenge, Salisbury Cathedral, Gold Hill and Wimborne Minster.  If you head for the beaches and coast - Poole, Bournemouth and Southampton are only a 45 minute drive away. The Campsite is very well placed for walking and cycling in the surrounding countryside.

National Club Events

The National Rally 2010   Eastnor Castle

What do The Camel trophy, The G4 Challenge, Driver Experience and Land Rover new vehicle launches Have in common?

They all take place at Eastnor Castle in Herefordshire, and that is where the club will be holding it’s 2010 National Rally.

After a talk with Kevin Jones from Surrey at Billing show, he suggested that we should try and go back to Eastnor Castle.  We have held a number of Nationals here, in fact it was the venue where we held our first National, so we rang them and a week later and got a reply which started “We would be pleased to have you back and you can have the Bronsil off road section”. This is an area we have used before, which providing we use the same entrance route, is a reasonable off road track before you reach the site itself.  One year I was driving along it and pulled over only to see a deer looking back at me!

Those of you who have been to Eastnor before will already know it well. Getting to the off road course is like driving a Green Lane. In fact one year we had members getting stuck on the access road. And then there is the off road course itself. Parts of it are used for Land Rover training and there are fantastic views over the castle, but watch out for the deer which run wild on the site.

The rally is going to be different this time in the way we price it , so it will be more affordable to more members. This is how it will work:

Firstly, the days have changed. Instead of starting on the Friday the event will start on the Saturday 29th May and run until Tuesday 1st June the Monday is a bank holiday. This will allow parents to arrive on the Saturday without having to take children out of school.

Secondly, we have kept the price down. You can attend the rally for only £70.00,
and to make it easier, you can pay by standing order in 4 monthly amounts (3 x £20 & 1 x &10). If you wish to pay by standing order, please call the club on 01543 424821 for details. You can also pay by credit or debit card using the link below, or by sending a cheque payable to “The series 3 Club”. Old fashioned cash is also acceptable!

Price:   £69.99  (Including: VAT at 17.5%)                          Book Now

The event price has been reduced until 18th April 2010. After that time the price will increase to £90.00 (except new members joning after that date).

Western Land Rover Run   April 4th 2010

 (Easter Sunday)
The 2010 Western run has a different starting point this year. It is a Motorway services.
We will be starting form the Gordano services on the M5 at 10am. The route will be on some of the roads around the area and will finish at the Helicopter museum, which is just outside Weston Super Mare. We are trying to arrange a discount for entrance to the museum for everyone on the run

The cost of the run is £15.00 which is a per vehicle price and includes a rally plaque for the vehicle and an event tee shirt
We are currently looking for a camp site in the area for the Sat and Sunday nights
