Hi All.
I remember a while back that there was a minor fracas on this forum over Land Rover Names.
While I'm sure most of us agree it is a little silly, we can also agree it's also in good spirits.
Therefore, can I point you all towards
www.landrovernames.com
which is an international register of names people have given to their trusty steeds, but seems to be dutch led! I have recently registerd both Saffron and Kinky Mo, my two, but they seem to take a while to get added!
Lets try and get the number of vehicles on their up, and particularly the UK based vehicles.

Registered mine on that site a while ago now.
I found it interesting to see what people came up with for names for their Landys. |

Hi all, im new to this forum, and the Naming Landies thread made me smile...ive always named my cars. Both my S3 staionwagons are named-The Goddess, who is my daily drive, but unfortunately is holed up at an accident repair centre as a nice delivery driver shunted me off the road, and Firefly, who is need of some tlc. Havent decided what to do with her yet.
Both,are lady landies.....like their owner |

Hi, and welcome firefly - why not put an intro post on the relevant section telling us a bit about yourself?

My SIII 2.25D has been christened Smokey for obvious reasons, although I have to say she isn't that bad really.
My last 90, a 2.5TD, was called Monty because it looked quite tough and other traffic was always following it _________________ Currently:

The 'sex' of the landy is interesting as well - I've noticed that a lot of Series 2 landies have 'old' womens names - Elsie, Ellie, Madge, Trudy etc, whereas the Defender brigade tend to opt for male names.
I'm wondering if thats because Defenders tend to get used harder than S2s? Series IIIs seems to be a mix, perhaps reflecting their semi-classic status? _________________ Currently:

Perhaps its because, defender drivers are all gay,s111 will go both ways if times are hard and s11 are all men lol.
Being part off the s111's i dont swing but i know a man that does.@D _________________ 1983 88" 200tdi full tilt

I have never named a car in my life, but in the Landrover Tradition I gave in and christened my 109 Dolores. She just looks like a Dolores to me.....bless her _________________ Current Vehicle: Series 3 109 Hardtop 2.25 Diesel called Dolores (chequer plate free)
