I read in magazines etc about people who take their landys on 'holidays/expeditions' abroad and was wondering what was the longest journey owners have ventured in their land Rovers and what problems (if any ) and experiences they encountered? _________________ If Its perfect, then it lacks Character...Current Vehicle: Series 3 109 Hardtop 2.25 Diesel called Dolores (chequer plate free)

never been abroard(and proud of it!) but the longest journey i've ever done in a landie was derby to inverness in a old series 1(top speed 50 mph, downhill with the wind behind you!) with a mate to look at a 101 he was thinking of buying, it was early january and the canvas full tilt ripped to shreds just past leeds, did the rest of the journey au natural, never been so cold.
the worst thing was having seen the 101 he decided he didn't want it afterall, so we drove all the way back!!, the idea had been to put the 80" series 1 in the back of the 101 piggy back style and drive back in that. _________________ 1972 s3 lwb (dreadnought)

The longest drive ive done is from home to winchester about 280 ish miles, got back about an hour ago. Only broke down once, on the way down around swindon the Fairey overdrive decided to shread the lay gear .Removed the drive, refitted the standard set up whilst at the side of the A419. not the best of days.. _________________ Curently

Hi Guys
I read 'First Overland' recently and also got the DVD. It describes the journey between London and Singapore in the mid 1950's by 2 Land Rovers. It's a great read and a real advert for the durability and capability of Land Rover. _________________ 1972 S111 SWB Station Wagon |

Crikey, I would have felt I had achieved something if I completed 11 COUNTIES in 9 days lol. Saying that I'm reading "The Impossible takes a bit longer" http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/1409203018/ref=oss_product in which the author drives to Australia and back in a series 1 back in 1957. Hats of to the bloke, took him a bit longer than 9 days though. _________________ If Its perfect, then it lacks Character...Current Vehicle: Series 3 109 Hardtop 2.25 Diesel called Dolores (chequer plate free)

Definatley interested but want to get Dolores running properly first and kit her out with a few towing extras....just in case The plan is to sort her out mechanically this year and do some green laning/off roading next. _________________ If Its perfect, then it lacks Character...Current Vehicle: Series 3 109 Hardtop 2.25 Diesel called Dolores (chequer plate free)
