Hello all

I hope someone can give me a few clues regarding the details of my ex-army 110.

I recently bought the Landy and got with it a copy of the army's vehicle history card for it.

There are a couple of things on the record card that I would like to have clarified, if possible:

It's army number plate was 48KF93 - does this mean anything, or is it random?

One of it's areas of service was TAC Supply WG Stafford (at least it looks like 'TAC' in the scribbled handwriting)- what is this (clearly, I can work out that it's in Stafford!)?

It is fitted with European headlights and a kilometres per hour speedo and odometer. Does this indicate that it may have served overseas? This is not stated on the history.

If it's any help it entered service in 1988 and was 'cast' in 1999.

Thanks for your help.

Geoff

Please sir, I can help. Rolling Eyes

Can you scan your card and post it on here?

I'll then decipher it for you.

Hello Nige

I will have a go at scanning it tomorrow. Not sure how good it will be as the document I have is a bit ropey.

Thanks for your offer of help.

Cheers
Geoff

Hello Nige and Simpleearth

Sorry Nige, I haven't had a chance to scan the document - I've not forgotten, and I will do it - most likely to be tomorrow.

Simpleearth, thanks for that info.

I suppose, this now begs the question - "why would some UK Landys be fitted with kilometre speedos and odometers?"

Cheers
Geoff

It's so they could be used in any theatre of operation and it might have been what they had on the production line. I've found no real logic to it. My S3 had a MPH speedo, was RH drive, but my mates 109 had a KPH speedo, it was also RH drive. My 90 is in KPH but is RHD.

I meant to mention, the Equipment Registration Number (ERM)is not random and tells you the age. I'm not up on the new modern ones 2 Letters 2 Numbers 2 Letters, but yours tells me it was taken on strength within the 1986 fiscal year (01/04/86 to 31/3/87). This is not the build date. That can only be determined from the chassis number, and requires a request to Gaydon. eg mine is a KJ, so on strength 01/04/90 to 31/03/91.
