A Td5 Defender was stolen locally this week but found two days later around 20 miles away parked up in a parking area on a housing estate. Likely to have been left to see if there was a Tracker or similar fitted. The owner had a crooklock-type device fitted which was removed by the thieves and the vehicle stolen without keys.

Happily, the Defender will be returned to it's owner. Very Happy Very Happy

It's continuing. In the last few weeks, we've had five that i'm aware of in the county, including an attempt to take one with a rotten chassis that was awaiting a new chassis being fitted. Another guy had his 110 HCPU stolen for the second time... Sad Sad

The scourge continues! Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

There have been a few more gone in the Cotswolds this week, including two in Stroud where i live! Shocked Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad It looks like Defender thefts are certainly getting endemic.

I wonder how long it will be before some insurers either won't insure without certain anti-theft measures or security devices or don't insure Defenders at all... Sad Sad

I have heard of 2 going in Redditch in the last few weeks. I have Henry sat at the back of the drive with 2 cars in front of him and 2 security devices fitted. He also has a nice tarpaulin over him (keeps the water out of the cab as well) to keep him hidden.

Another one stolen this week. An '08 plate Defender 90 in dark green, stolen from a farm at 2am without keys. The owner heard it go but by the time he got downstairs, it was long gone sadly. Sad

I wonder if he had any security? steering lock, pedal box, isolator etc. From what I have seen, there are far too many owners who are complacent regarding additional security. I come from a farming community and have seen farm vehicles parked with abandon in the yards - some of which aren't even locked.
