[I've just seen Mark's also posted from somewhere nearby-ish not long ago!]

Hi everyone - just picked up our third Land Rover and first non-Defender - 'Sunny', a bright yellow 1986 Ninety 2.5 NA hardtop that's been converted to a SW (not by us, but I'm not complaining!). Made the trip home from NE London, after travelling less than a mile in 2 years, without a single hiccup or complaint. And I didn't get a single angry honk or get cut up once on the way back either for doing 55 the whole way back - reckon that's a first!

Anyway, just discovering Sunny's little ... character traits ... today - for starters:
- no heater function at all (god knows, blower motor gone maybe)
- hazard makes a random ticking (relay presumably)
- wife's already complaining about the lack of power steering (I'll give her that one)
- no dash lights - and the switch just wobbles uselessly so that's obv duff
- most endearingly she waggles the fuel gauge completely randomly between (hopefully) the current fuel level and empty - I've chosen to interpret this as her being happy to be moving again!

Lots of stuff to do on her, but loving it already. Obviously, crazy fool that I am, I'm in the middle of trading in my own Defender 110 for a S2 V8 as well, so should keep me busy til well into the next century!

Will find a way of putting some photos on here when I have a mo to drag them off Google Photos...

Look forward to taking part in the forums and to meeting up at some of the events!

All the best, Nick.

Welcome to the madhouse sorry, forum nick666.
Try hot wiring the blower motor as it could be a faulty switch.
Ask away, no question is a stupid one

Hi Nick,

Welcome to the forum. I notice that you registered over a year ago - you have waited a long time for your first post Smile

As Alan has said, ask away your daft questions - I do and he answers me fine every time Very Happy

Hi - yes, I joined when I picked up the current Defender, then lost my login here! Have finally got round to joining as a 'proper' member too, since we actually have a 90 now!

Thanks Alan - indeed that's my first point of call ... as soon as I can do so without Mother Nature trying to fry me with a neatly aimed dribble of water! Hopefully tomorrow... trying to decide which is going to be more hassle - the expense of a new switch (those things aren't cheap!) or the faff of taking the heater apart to replace the motor!

Welcome along Nick. That was a long trip for a well laid up Landy, you must be a very brave optimist! Great that she made it though, obviously your optimism paid off!!

Look forward to when you post some pics

Hi Nick,

Welcome to the club and forum from another ex-Ciderman! Very Happy

Looks like the first trip with the 90 was a success then! And it probably gave you chance to admire the view of Wiltshire from the A303 too! Smile Smile

My 90 has the same issue with the fuel guage. It's one of those things i'll get round too at some point! Smile

There's lots of help and advice on here, just ask away. And don't forget some pics if the 90! Very Happy
