Last night, as we were getting ready to go out, we heard a 'humming' noise outside. I thought that it could be next door, and that they might be using a strimmer or sander or something like that so I ignored it. As it was still going on after an hour, I got fed up and went outside to see what they were doing next door.

I found that the humming was coming from under Henry's bonnet! When I lifted the bonnet, I found that the washer motor was making the noise and was very hot to the touch. I disconnected the battery to be safe (and as I was going out). I assume that the motor is now knackered and will need changing, but has anyone else had something like this, and know what has happened?

Evening Paul.
Very odd as the washer pump operates only when the ignition is switched on. The only reason I can think is there is a short in the wiper/washer switch.
What tune was it humming?

New pump is on the way!!

Didn't recognise the tune so it was probably some modern rubbish.

Take it out, enter it for the Eurovision Song Contest (it might win!), anything, before your truck catches fire. As Alan said, there shouldn't be any current going to it without the ignition on, so I'd investigate that before putting a new pump in.
