Hi
Does anyone have experience of using chemicals/acid to 'raise' the serial number stamped on a chassis. I can just make out the last bit but not the first 3 or 4 digits. Using this established 'CSi' technique, chemicals reveal the compressed metal deeper in the metal. The vehicle a 40 year old Series 111 is near Uttoxeter, the chassis is sound. Thanks

You could try fluorescent dye penetrant detection as used for welding inspection. You polish the area, clean it and apply the chemical agent. Let it settle then apply the developer. You usually view it under a UV light. It should show the difference in surface detail. Google 'fluorescent dye penetrant kits'. They are available from about 10 or so.
