I couldn't get the link to work. The comment regarding Santa suggests it isn't cheap, and as i've just had to buy a new sofa for Mrs K, the chassis idea has been put back for a bit longer... Rolling Eyes Sad

I recon we could sit on a galvy chassis to watch the soaps and the news! Wink Very Happy

The link works. It's 1,650 + VAT How much is a new sofa? I only ever bought one and it was totally trashed (as in large hole right through the base!) by tenants, and I ain't ever wasting my money on another Mad

I've tried the link again and my computer won't have it. An issue with the in-law's old PC i reckon.

As for a new sofa, i had little choice. Our existing one is getting on so needed replacement. The same happens to a chassis though... Sad

Hi Mr K,

the content of the add is as per the below:

Land Rover

Defender 110 Chassis

Suitable for 2.25 Petrol, 2.5 Petrol, 2.25 Diesel, 2.5Diesel, 2.5 Turbo Diesel, 200TDI and V8

A brand new chassis acquired from a customer who started to rebuild a Defender and run out of time and money

Parts have previously been bolted to the chassis but we have stripped it back to basics

The right hand bulkhead outrigger has been drilled off centre slightly, possibly because the bulkhead had been repaired slightly out of line but this does not detract from mounting of a straight bulkhead.

Obviously there are marks on the chassis where items have been bolted on then removed.

The engine crossmember supplied with it is a standard steel one, not galvanised and has been modified slightly.

We belive this to be an ex Richards chassis as the guy could not remember where he bought it!

The chassis is straight with no damage and an ideal base unit for that Defender project

Collect from depot only or see delivery charges below.

Will this chassis deemed to be second hand as it has been bought from a customer? If so, using it will render the vehicle liable for an unwelcome Q plate.

You raise a good point........not sure, but wouldnt have thought so as it won't have a reference ID on it or have been registered.

In that case I would consider it 'Shop Soiled'.....However..

Does the DVLA required any proof of the source of the chassis with regards the manufacturer these days? ie, a receipt from an existing 'manufacturer' of NEW Land Rover Chassis's registered as a legitimate company in the UK? Proof that it is 'New' and not a rebuilt second hand one and then galvanised?

If so then for this chassis there is no proof that it isn't a rebuilt old one.

I think that proof is required that I the chassis is brand new and not second hand. If any doubt exists DVLA will issue a Q plate which is very difficult to get changed to a proper number.
