Heard the news tonight and couldn't believe that Land Rover appear to be holding the country to ransom over Brexit. Apparently the factory in Slovakia is capable of building as many vehicles per week that are currently rolling out of Solihull.

Is it just me or does this seem to be the Land Rover management using our decision to leave the EU as their excuse to move all production overseas?

Disgusting and outrageous!

What can you expect? They're Indian. Land Rover ceased to be British long ago. (And, as far as I'm concerned, though it's only my opinion, 'Land Rovers' ceased to be Land Rovers long ago too) My only surprise is that the Chinese haven't bought it ... yet - they appear to be buying up everything, everywhere.

They are doing what a lot of companies are doing. Weve mentioned before about production going abroad but this time, JLR are pushing it forward. Its going to happen sadly. It will leave JLR free to sell off their premises in the UK and not have the tax, pbension and other costs associated with manufacturing here. Very sad though.

I don't understand how they claim they will lose 3 billion. My understanding is that Brexit is supposed to open up unimpeded trade to the rest of the world. As Land Rover's biggest emerging market is the far east, surely the lack of trade tariffs can only be good for the company? Moving to another country that is still in the EU does not make any sense unless they are only interested in the European market. Or have I missed something?
