Hi- I have a genuine LR Stage 1 109 NOS chassis- unstamped and never used- it has a military rear crossmember fitted from when it was built. Does any one know what military application this would be for? Did UK forces use the Stage 1?

Just a guess, but gun tractors spring to mind. They need the power.

Contact the Military Vehicle Trust. They will definitely be able to help. www.mvt.org.uk

The Stage One was used extensively by the New Zealand Army (and hence are relatively commonly seen there still) but not by the British military. There was a discussion years ago on the Stage One forum that touched upon this in which one member (in Damascus) said he had an ex-army Stage 1 but he didn't say where from:

https://www.stage1v8.org.uk/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=580

I wonder if a few might have been used as command vehicles? You might try raising this issue again on that forum (also sometimes a useful source of more specialised technical advice on the Stage 1 V8 if you need it)

Thanks for the help everyone- the chassis is brand new and never used, so no vehicle ID to get info from.
I'm planning to fit it to my 81 Stage 1 that was previously used as a recovery truck- very complete and original with low miles of under 60K- needs work though-what a surprise![/img]
