I'll be replacing the bulkhead on my Series 3 next year so I've started researching the options. Initially I wanted a galvanized one but recent events have changed that option.
Ashtree Land Rovers are the ones for galvanized bulkheads (or so I thought) so I tried to get on their website but it's shut down. There's a discussion on the Landy Zone forum about Ashtree and the signs aren't at all encouraging. Today out of curiosity I tried phoning several times but their phone went to voicemail.
I had a discussion with a company, Robert Owen Engineering in Doncaster who supplied a bulkhead to a local member and the fitter was very impressed with the quality. For just under £2,000 they will supply a brand new bulkhead, ready painted with stonechip protection, cavity wax injected and delivered in a bespoke crate. They will supply a bare metal one that can be galvanized but Owens don't recommend it as the metal will likely distort in the process unlike the much thicker metal of a chassis.
So that's my option. I'll see Ian who fitted the other member's bulkhead and take it from there.
Robert Owen don't advertise as they have enough work. It's about 4 months lead time for the bulkhead spec I want. Ashtree refurbish old bulkheads and then galvanize them which means you're getting an old bulkhead unlike Owens who build them from scratch.
If you search Ashtree Land Rover and scroll down the finds the Landy Zone forum is there.

Been considering a galv chassis for Henry. Sadly I do not have the cash to pay for one as yet. Probably be a few years I reckon......

I'll have a Robert Owen bulkhead. I've seen their bulkhead fitted to a local member's Land Rover and they're very good.
Tried phoning Ashtree again, straight to ansaphone.

It won't be done until next summer Rich. You can inspect it October 2020.
As for posting photos on this site I haven't a clue how to do it. Please don't tell me how it's done because I won't understand. I'm mechanical not electronic.

Having been on several forums for other Land Rover clubs, back to 2016 there were complaints about the quality of Ashtree bulkheads and the lack of communication. It appears they've gone under. I rang my mate who knows Lyndon Swann the proprietor and he's heard nothing.
So, looks like Ashtree is no more. Robert Owen it is

I tried to find out anything about the directors of Ashtree but the same response as when I tried to access the company website so Ashtree is definitely no more.

I reckon they went bust. I was on the Series 1 forum and there was not a good word for Ashtree. Shoddy workmanship, items not being returned, even a member from New Zealand had problems with them. The site came up as a hit when I entered Ashtree Land Rover along with various others none of which had a good word to say about Ashtree.
I doubt if they'll start again.

I had an interesting conversation about bulkheads with a respected Land Rover parts supplier. Robert Owen were classed as excellent as this company has used them and they wouldn't touch Ashtree with the proverbial barge pole.
