Hi all
Can anyone out there tell me the torque settings for the nuts/studs on the pan underneath the transfer box please, I've search the few reference books I own but can't find any mention of torque settings, cheers

I've got official Land Rover Service Manuals that were used in training apprentices. I'll check the transfer box one and also the official workshop manual and report back.

That's the later transfer box, morson. I've checked my Series 3 workshop manual and the Training Workbook for the transfer box and nowhere are there torque settings for the sump plate. You'll have to tighten them sensibly, tight enough but not overtight.

As a rough guide, the bottom plate bolts on a LT230 transfer box (Defender type) are 6mm (about 1/4") bolts/studs. Aluminium plate to aluminium casing. The torque settings for these are 18 - 22NM (16 - 21lb/ft). I would think that yours would be a similar value.
