Another post which is becoming all too common is those who are new to greenlaning asking for greenlanes to go off roading and get stuck in mud or wanting a challenge. That’s not what greenlaning is about, they want pay and play sites for that activity. Evil or Very Mad Rolling Eyes I’ve just read one of these this morning, but fortunately a lot of responsible users reply directing the author to an off road site instead. Very Happy

I used to use an OS map to find green lanes. I guess that's just 'so yesterday' now Sad

It is, but only because a lot of people new to the activity find it easier than doing their own research. I still use good old fashioned OS maps and my own research, but it’s much easier for someone to put a post on FB asking if there are any good lanes in a location. And then they add a post that they’re stuck or showing them engaging in illegal activity. Rolling Eyes Evil or Very Mad

They might as well be acting for anti-laning groups. Are we sure they're not?! But then I'm just paranoid these days.

They almost are inadvertently. Their activities, which are freely available for all to see, would play straight into the hands of the antis. Sad

I've no doubt they will, and do.

Another one this morning. A group of three young lads in an old disco stuck on a very wet track, believed in Essex. Not posted by the group themselves but a picture of them shared across several FB groups. There is a question over whether they are on a right of way or not, and especially over the condition of the lane, which is very wet and muddy and not in a condition that can realistically be driven. (Think camel trophy and you’ll get the idea... ) Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

They'd make good target practice (my dad helped design the Royal Artillery base down there, and I used to go down there with him sometimes in the school hols when I was a boy)

The latest trend is people asking who is out greenlaning during lockdown. Whether people agree, we are in a lockdown but there are still trips being arranged on social media, although more commonly it is individuals looking for others who are already going out laning. Responsible groups and clubs are not organising trips, which is the right thing to do. Generally, those who ask if anyone is heading out on a trip are getting a robust reply from others about whether their trip is essential travel.
