Don't attempt to replace the oil seal then just tighten the pinion nut on a Salisbury axle. Its doesn't work that way unlike the Rover axle. It's best left to specialists with the proper equipment as there's a proper way to do it and it's more than advisable to replace the collapsible spacer and a 250 ft-lb torque wrench is needed to start it collapsing then a gauge to measure the resistance required to turn the assembly to get the correct figure.
Doing it incorrectly can result in the pinion nut undoing and the propshaft dropping down or the diff seizing with disastrous consequences. _________________ Alan Drover.
