Discovery manufacture is being moved from the home of all Land Rovers, Solihull, to Slovakia to make way for a new generation of Range Rovers next year. Has the rot started? Where will the Defender replacement be manufactured and how many other vehicles will eventually be manufactured abroad?

Sad times. JLR will probably build the Defender replacement if/when it eventually comes, where labour and build costs are cheapest. Or perhaps Slovakia if they already have a factory there to build the disco?

Looks like JLR are concentrating on the new RR over other models too. Sad

Absolutely disgusting news. I guess that the Discovery will no longer be referred to as a British vehicle then.

I'm beginning to wonder if there will ever be a defender replacement. The last time I heard, it was going to be based on the Disco platform. If that is being made in Slovakia then it's odds on that the new defender (if they do bring one out) would be built there as well.
In any event, due to having to conform to all the new vehicle regulations, it would probably bear little resemblance to the traditional Land Rover.
