Definitely get a tracking device. Get a good one too, and an immobiliser if you can. Your Landy sounds like it will get both positive and negative attention so anything that deters theft and if it goes, helps getting it back, will be money well spent. A pedal lock such as the clutch claw will help too.

Even lock it when you fill up. These things get nicked anywhere.

Looking at the issue with space saver spares sometimes provided with cars, I would think that provided that the overall tyre diameter is the same as your road tyres, you should be O.K. to use it as an emergency spare. This would of course be under the proviso that you keep your speed down. It might be an idea to paint it with red stripes or similar to make it look obvious.
