O.K. I'll start.
Got underneath the Disco. Took off the rear step which is rusty - to be refurbished.
Got a power wirebrush on the back of the chassis. I've got a little welding to do on the bottom of chassis rail on one side. The rest looks O.K.
It all got a coat of zinc enriched primer to protect it. A bit of black spray paint later to dress it up. _________________ I'm an engineer. I've been self distancing for years. Welcome to my world.

Very impressed John. Puts me to shame.
Mine is simple. Nothing. Not even a sausage. Although I did unpack and look in awe at the new starter motor. That’s all I had time to do. _________________ Rich.

Mine came in a black and yellow striped box with a "WOSP" on it (looks more like an angry hornet). I've still got the box.
I carried out a quick underbonnet check this morning. Nothing amiss. _________________ Alan Drover.

The box is as Alan describes it. Almost a work of art in itself. _________________ Rich.

Replaced a front N/S blown hub seal, cleaned up brake liners (not contaminated, luckily)
Stopped one rattle and started another. Found dash pod is rattling also, butcant quite face dragging it out this weekend to fix.
Checked all tyre pressures, oils and waters, fitted new headlamp housings, the old ones were crazed crazily, and admired the replacement sill skirts I fitted last week.
Next job is to do gearbox oil top ups. _________________ 1978 Series 3 S/W 2.25 Petrol/LPG

Gave Doris a wash.
Then the local flying rats (AKA seagulls) decided to use my nice shiny black bonnet for target practice. The little bar stewards. _________________ I'm an engineer. I've been self distancing for years. Welcome to my world.

I replaced the injector seals on the Disco. No burn through on the copper bedding washers, but a couple of the 'o' rings had been leaking. Did the automatic air purge sequence and she fired up first time, which was a relief. The hardest thing was changing the oil filter. It must have taken me 20 minutes. It's in the most awkward place imaginable - tucked right up next to the turbo. You can't even see it. Oil change done and just a few checks over the next couple of days. The sump plug had a Dowty seal fitted instead of a copper washer, and it was done up really tight. Looks like it had been leaking at some point. Something else to keep an eye on. _________________ I'm an engineer. I've been self distancing for years. Welcome to my world.

Be careful when you change the rotor filter John. The bolts fit into an aluminium housing which can strip the threads. I had this happen on mine. It was solved by having the housing helicoiled.
No Landy activity today. I wanted to give it a wash between work and picking up baby knappster but I finished work late so went straight to the nursery. _________________ Rich.

I sent off some recent photos of Daisy to the insurance company (agreed value).
And, yet again, spotted the steering wheel boss, which needs re-painting. I have the black crackle paint ready but....I really must sort it.... It needs some time in SWMBOs oven _________________ First Landy back in the 1980's

My steering wheel boss has a Land Rover badge superglued to it. I found a small wheel centre plastic boss with the badge (possibly from a Freelander) so I carefully prised the badge out and stuck it on the steering wheel boss.

Checked the oil level in a steering box and topped it up a very little - don't you just love the smell of gear oil? ... or is that just me?? _________________ 2 1981 Stage One 109 V8 Station Wagons |

It probably smells better than the litre or so of diesel that poured out of No1 pot when I tried to start Henry at the weekend - forgot to do up the fuel line - Doh! _________________ Paul.
