My Landy activity was using it. I even got a conversation for a guy at work about it. Smile

It appears that the solenoid was sticking Rich and it could happen again. Get the high torque starter fitted.

The Land Rover is going for an inspection on 5th June so I checked a much neglected essential - windscreen washers. Despite months of disuse they worked.
Some years ago Mrs. D helped me flush the pipework as the fluid I used then left blue crud behind so after it had been cleared I now use Autoglym screen wash. After months of disuse it leaves no residue in the pipework. The washer motor isn't a cheap Chinese eBay heap of junk but a genuine Land Rover one which stands up to much more (ab)use. I got it from Dunsfold, not cheap but infinitely superior.

I spent a bit of time perusing eBay today in between baby knappster opening birthday presents with the in-laws. A defender 200Tdi snorkel advertised locally caught my eye. It appears to bolt onto the near side wing where there is a plastic cover into the air intake. My 90, not being a factory Tdi has the air intake on top of the near side wing so the Tdi snorkel is no good. It looks like Iíd have to use the earlier snorkel if I wanted one. But I donít need one, it was just another scoping exercise. I was looking for a roof rack! I didnít find one though.

Sent my now repaired 109V8 bulkhead off for galvanising; very worried now Sad

Bulkheads can be galvanised although there is the risk of it warping.

Let us know how you get on. And add some pics of the finished article if you can. Alan will be interested!

Today I was woken with dawn delivery of my newly galvanised bulkhead.

It has a lot of dross to clean off and will need quite a bit of surface finishing. Then it will be skimmed as needed and primed for painting. Not the best quality job in the world but will outlast me Smile

I used the 90 for another trip to the tip with my father-in-law. I didnít offload him there, he helped me unload the garden waste. Smile

I spent about £300 on footwells, new feet, bolts, steel sheet, welding gas, abrasives and tools and many hours of work. The galvanising then cost £175 + vat and another £60 + vat for collection and delivery. So all in, about £600.
It has been a lot of work though and nerve wracking being a body repairs virgin. Very satisfying though getting rid of all the rot and welding in new steel, fabricating awkward shaped sections, and learning how to butt weld patches without causing distortion. I just hope the thing still fits! Shocked
